Assumption Church Completed |
|
Assumption Church is a Roman Catholic Parish located in the River North area
(close to Chicago's Merchandise Mart).
The original tracker pipe organ was replaced in the 1960's by an Allen Analog Organ. Unfortunately, the upper portion of the organ case was removed and discarded at that time.
In 2010, Triune Music re-created the magnificent "look" of the original pipe organ with a fresh design that proudly displays a new 8' Diapason in the facade. The completed installation features MANY ranks of pipes (both old & new) along with an enclosed Swell Division and a new Tuba that will be useful for weddings and festivals.
Founded in 1881 to minister to the needs of Italian immigrants who
had settled in the area, Assumption Church now serves a diverse community of
neighborhood residents, downtown workers, historic parishioners,
tourists, and
intentional parishioners from all over the Chicago area who have come to
appreciate this beautiful worship space and friendly atmosphere.
Assumption is staffed by the Order of Friar
Servants of Mary, a religious community founded in Italy in the
thirteenth
century.
